The Annual Science Rendezvous Science Fair (S.R.S.F.)
In this fair students are given the opportunity to showcase their work alongside that of Canada’s leading researchers! Students with outstanding science posters will win funding for their classrooms! Funding that can help to enhance both the current and future scientific education of themselves and their peers. Students will get to think outside the box and creatively share their ideas through posters on what excites them as they research and present to our panel of judges consisting of prominent figures and University of Toronto researchers.
For this year’s SR Science Fair 2019, we will be exploring the marvellous world of Molecular Genetics and gearing the fair towards a special theme:
All living organisms are made up of genes and our DNA is essentially the blueprint for life. We shall explore the impact of genetics in our lives from superpowers to global pandemics to antibiotic resistance. We will also delve into the potential controversies surrounding genetic engineering. Students will get an opportunity to think outside the box and use their creativity to share their scientific ideas through posters and explore what excites them about the field of genetics!
*This year the Science Fair was supported by NSERC. Check them out on Twitter: @NSERC_CRSNG, Facebook:facebook.com/NSERCCanada, and Instagram: @NSERC_CRSNG*

CLOSING REMARKS
We would like to thank every student that participated in the Science Fair this year, we are proud of each and every one of you. The turn-out was amazing, there was over 50 science fair projects and over 100 students both in high school and elementary from different parts of Toronto and the GTA. The students that participated came from all different backgrounds, but were given equal opportunity to celebrate learning through discovery. Our aim was to bring together students to foster curiosity towards the STEM field, and encourage friendly communication and exchange of ideas. Since the initial launch of the science fair, we have grown each year, and we hope to provide an event that students can look forward to for years to come. We are grateful for all the sponsors, volunteers, and judges which made this event such a success. Hopefully we will see you again next year!
